| I remember 2 years ago, of my first days at wilson like it was yesterday. Damn, computer class was awesome [we had good A/C summer before freshman year] I met new ppl that i still enjoy talking to today, like Bryan Lee and Yuri, i always woke up two hours before 10 when class started, ate a bowl of sugary cereal and blasted my tv speakers to mtv or played cs. man, those were the times.
*NOTE: IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ THIS NEXT LONG BLOCK ABOUT MY TIMES IN BAND, SKIP IT
not to mention band. oh man, band sucked when i first started, but only because i looked at the pessimistic sides. despite having to carry "lil jon" around and all the hours, i met some new ppl. and these new ppl turned out to be the coolest group i have met since the beginning of my high skoo' caree' hehe. i remember talking to liz about how much better the food was compared to our middle schools/ fights about how rap was better than rock [i preferred rap to rock back then, but now i'm completely switched]/ and how badly our left shoulder hurt...although it didnt really hurt to the point where i wanted to complain, i just wanted to break the silence. of course, i met a lot of other cool ppl, as well as get closer to ppl i already knew too: darryl, the "jolly" drum major, kimi the korean girl who hated kimchi, Josh Choe, Kevin Wei and i starting spam but never getting to do so cause of tournaments, Sam Ogawa, Lex, Jessica Chaney, Raymond, doug, NiCCole, Kyle Brovlaski [jk, it was just Kyle], Wesley, and all these other ppl i don't remember. i was a shy guy during those times. then band camp came, and it was fun..the groups, the icebreakers, the stretches, the mercy on the freshman...it's all fuzzy memories to me...like pieces of a puzzle of a painting missing here and there but the picture is still beatiful. sorry for being so cheesy, but its true lol but yeah band was alright. then school came, practices at night took up my time, and the football games weren't fun at all, for the fact the we were dressed in uniforms and were restricted. i was getting sick of band, but i always remembered that my cousin Daniel asked me "you didnt do tournaments yet? watch...when they start, that's when band starts to get fun" and it DID. damn! it was fun...we fooled around so much during tournaments. absolutely NOTHING was better then getting into our street clothes and being nearly %100 UNrestricted, waiting in line for the works potato, and sipping on our drinks during the whole show, talking back and forth, passing beach balls to each other. i can't even describe the fun and relief we were having when we got into our street clothes after we finished our show. its a lot like going home after a swim practice, taking a nice hot shower and going to a baseball game. yeah, totally. the cool thing was that we were part of the whole tournament, and it was at night. i guess that's why it felt so comfortable: practicing for 45 min before our show, having our show, and finally being able to take off our suspenders and jacket and getting into our street clothes in the bus. then coming out, grabbing a good snack, and sitting down on cool seats at night, when no lights could hurt our eyes, and being surrounded by fellow band ppl.
END. that wasn't even all of it but w/e
yup...freshman year. i remember when myspace was never heard of and everyone wrote in their xangas damn near everyday...talking about the sweet headshot they got in cs or project they did. time went by, and ppl just stopped. I will be one of the few who update often.
BUT THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS ENTRY WAS FOR THIS. SORRY I GOT REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY CARRIED AWAY:
today, i received a phone call at 2 05. seeing that it was alex, i assumed he wanted to go to the gym, but he didnt. instead, him and jo rushed me to go see a 2 15 showing of The 40yearold virgin. now i'm glad they invited me, and i really wanted to go, but why call at a late time when you could call later? i feel i am definitely not alone on this, and this happens a lot to some of my friends, so i made a list of how to handle movies:
1. its fine to get a ride from someone to the mall. really, its fine. its okay to get a ride everytime, too. but if you can never get a ride for yourself, think of a way to return that favor
2. i don't care if youre watching a crap movie like stealth, going to the movies is always better when you have a meal before or after it. i remember when we met up with john, jasmine, eddie, and jessica to go watch Chocolate Factory. That was one of the best times that i went: Jo alex and i worked out at the gym, took showers, and got to the mall. we ate a nice meal without rushing, and watched the movie.
+ maybe someone in your group of friends always says something like "go early? then what the hell are we gonna do for an hour?" remind him of the last time you guys came "on time" [on time as in ENTERING the mall at 4 when youre showing is at 4 05. that's gonna toast up a headache.]
+then there was a time when we really did go at 4 when there was a 405 showing, and we came in after the title rolled. i was pissed. so was everyone else.
+i remember one time when it was just me, eddie, jo, and jasmine. that was also one of the best: ate at johnny rockets, a nice meal, then played halo for a whole hour before our movie started. that was awesome
3. don't blame someone in your group for not being organized, chances are, you prob picked up his bad habits. don't worry, it'll over turn
well, i'm DAMN sure i'm missing something but i can't think right now and i'm smoked from this long entry. later guys and girls |
